If'n you would say, "I do."

I love Howard Keel. I read a short story (I think it was called "Going to the Movies") where she talked about watching Howard Keel and admiring his teeth. It's entertaining just to watch him sing. And this is one of my favorites of his. It's just too bad he so often plays heels.

  1. I LOOOOVE Howard Keel. And yes, his typical character was a charming jerk -- but he was so good at playing them! ;-D

  2. I, too, love Howard Keel. He was so very talented. And that voice! I have to agree with you and Millie: he was very good at playing ''heels'' and ''charming jerks.'' Perhaps we could also call them cads? ;)

  3. Author Emma Brockes has a similar reaction to Howard Keel and his teeth.

From What Would Barbra Do?: How Musicals Changed My Life

"I start sniveling in the first frame of SHOW BOAT. It has something to do with Howard Keel, his solid, genial manner and slightly protuberant teeth. Call him the poor man's Mario Lanza if you will, but I have a lot of time for Keel."
