'S awful nice

I reserve the right to change my mind at any given time. I use such privilege now. In a previous post, I wrote that I didn't like An American in Paris. Well, I was at the store the other day and saw the movie on sale for $5. I couldn't resist the price because it's a classic and it's Gene Kelly and even if I don't adore the film, it's only $5 and I can at least just watch the songs. Anyway, that was my thought process. So, I bought the movie. And then I decided to give it a second chance. After all, it had been a good while since I'd seen it all the way through. My sister had been surprised that I didn't like it in the first place. I've always been sad for the Milo and Henri because they get left out of the equation.

Anyway, I rewatched the movie and found that I liked it a good deal. Yay! I'm not feeling quite as sorry for Milo anymore because she really did know pretty early on that Jerry wasn't interested. Henri, however, I still really feel badly for. He's such a great guy. Not only is he attractive (I mean, serously, Lise, if you don't want him, I'll take him!) but he's so sweet the whole time. But, after watching the movie, I've come to grips with the situation. You get a good sense that he gave Lise up; she didn't leave him - which makes it easier, somehow. And, anyway, I like to think that he goes off to America on that big tour and finds himself an American girl who's absolutely crazy for beautiful French men.

In any case, this is a picture I've always loved and now that I like the movie, I like the picture even more now!

I found the picture here.

  2. I haven't seen An American in Paris in years, but I always liked it! Maybe I should watch it again. I am the same with some movies. There are a few I wasn't that impressed with at first, but then got to liking. I always blamed it on my life and what I was able to relate to at the time. This photo is also amazing. So cute!

  3. I'm so glad that you finally got a chance to really see it (after my recommendation in the previous post, I was afraid I might have sounded a bit too eager about it). Yet again, not many movies can compete with its set design, costumes and music. And Gene looks just great in it! ;)
